Welcome

Welcome to the Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centre, Far North Coast.

The Centre is a federally funded service that provides a free and confidential central point of contact for people requiring information on community aged care, disability and other health related support services available on the Far North Coast of NSW.  We are able to transfer callers free of charge to other Centres throughout Australia for  information about another area.

The Centre also coordinates access to respite and other support services for carers in need of a break from their caring role. Centre staff can assist carers with organising  respite at home, in a community setting or booking respite in an aged care facility  and provides a 24 hour on call service for carers who have a crisis or emergency.

The staff at the Centre are committed to providing a high quality service to anyone contacting us for information, or respite support and therefore work closely with other services within the region.

Anyone can contact the Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centre Far North Coast for further information about our programs, which are listed on this web site.

About Us Print E-mail

The Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centre was initially funded in 1997 by the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) under the National Respite for Carers Program. Over a period of time, increased funding from DoHA and Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) has meant that we have been able to provide a range of services under different programs to a larger number of carers in the Far North Coast region. For the Carer Respite Support Service FREECALL™ 1800 052 222* (*calls from mobile phones charged at applicable rates).

In 2000 the Centre took on an additional role in the community, that of being a ‘one stop shop’ for information on community aged care, disability and other health related support services on the Far North Coast.
